Description

As a Workshop Supervisor in ZMI, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day workshop operations, ensuring all maintenance, repair, and fabrication activities are executed efficiently, safely, and in line with company standards. The role ensures vessels’ machinery and systems are maintained to international marine standards, statutory and regulatory requirements, and in compliance with company policies, procedures, HSE, and IMS requirements. The role also acts as a key coordinator between workshop teams and vessel engineering teams to support reliable vessel performance and minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the workshop operations to ensure all maintenance and repair work is completed on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
  • Supervise and guide workshop technicians in carrying out maintenance, repair, and overhaul of marine equipment and vessel systems.
  • Plan, assign, and monitor daily workshop activities to ensure efficient workflow and proper resource utilization.
  • Ensure all workshop activities comply with company procedures, HSE standards, and IMS requirements.
  • Maintain accurate workshop records including job cards, maintenance logs, equipment history, and inventory/spares tracking.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance planning in coordination with vessel Chief Engineers and technical teams.
  • Coordinate inspection, testing, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and deck machinery systems.
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and availability of workshop tools, equipment, and facilities in safe working condition.
  • Oversee PMS/AMOS updates and ensure accurate recording of maintenance activities and consumables usage.
  • Provide technical guidance, performance feedback, and support training and development of workshop personnel, and perform other duties as assigned by the Fleet Manager.

Minimum Required and Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a marine/offshore workshop environment, including supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Strong leadership and team supervision skills
  • Solid hands-on experience in marine/offshore workshop environments
  • Good command of English (spoken and written)
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage daily operations effectively
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Good knowledge of HSE standards, workshop safety practices, and marine maintenance procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
  • Strong communication, reporting, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines consistently
