Description

As an Electrical Engineer with ZMI, you will be responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and components onboard Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs). The role focuses on ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical equipment in line with company standards and marine regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support electricians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment onboard vessels
  • Conduct testing, inspection, and troubleshooting of electrical systems to ensure safety, reliability, and operational performance.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure all electrical work is carried out in compliance with safety procedures, company standards, and marine regulation
  • Supervise routing of electrical wiring, conduit, and cabling during installation and repair activities
  • Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide field operations
  • Support preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment failure and improve reliability
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and materials used
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are properly maintained and kept in safe condition
  • Coordinate with other engineers and technical teams to resolve operational issues
  • Provide technical support and guidance to onboard staff and ensure smooth vessel operations
  • Ensure timely completion of assigned work orders and maintenance tasks
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in maintenance processes, efficiency, and equipment performance
  • Maintain high safety standards and actively reduce incidents and equipment-related risk

Minimum Required and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair, preferably within marine, offshore, workshop, or industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, circuit principles, power distribution, and control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance using standard tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • CAD software and engineering tools experience is an advantage.
  • Good understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, able to work independently and as part of a team in operational or offshore environments.
  • Basic to good English communication skills
  • Strong discipline, commitment, and ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Physically fit for demanding job requirements.
