PWO Canada is a Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier for auto manufacturers globally. We are one of five subsidiaries in the PWO AG Group, manufacturing lightweight metal components for the automotive industry.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The RFQ Manager would be responsible for overseeing and managing the Request for Quotation (RFQ) process. This role involves collaborating closely with both sales and engineering teams to understand technical requirements, ensuring RFQs are aligned with customer specifications, and working with purchasing team to secure competitive pricing and optimal terms for components. The RFQ Manager will play a critical role in ensuring that the technical and commercial aspects of proposals are accurate and timely.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of a post-secondary degree in Engineering is required.

Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of stamping and welding manufacturing processes and the engineering design process. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess quotations for technical accuracy and cost-effectiveness. Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, and procurement teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills are required for normal technical/business communication. Strong computer skills are required. Must be able to interact with individuals from different cultures and professional backgrounds.

Nature and Length of Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in RFQ management, engineering, and/or operations within the automotive or manufacturing industries. Proven experience working closely with both sales and engineering teams to manage technical and commercial RFQs. Familiarity with automotive industry standards, components, and technologies is highly preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and oversee the RFQ process for automotive projects, from receipt of request through to the issuance of quotations.
  • Work closely with the Sales team to understand customer requirements, project scope, and specific technical specifications needed for RFQs.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to gather technical data, design specifications, and required quality standards for RFQ submissions.
  • Work with the Purchasing team to assess which suppliers provide the best value while meeting customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to ensure technical feasibility of proposed solutions and that all specifications meet design requirements and standards.
  • Facilitate communication between the Sales, Engineering, and Procurement teams to ensure alignment in response to customer RFQs.
  • Maintain accurate records of all RFQ activities, including supplier quotes, communications, and finalized agreements.
  • Prepare regular reports on RFQ progress, including key performance indicators (KPIs) such as lead times, pricing accuracy, supplier performance, and cost savings.
  • Ensure that all RFQ documentation complies with internal quality standards and customer-specific requirements.
  • Continuously identify areas for improvement in the RFQ process to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve response times.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, automotive regulations, and best practices in RFQ management.
