Role Description The Social Worker role at Inner Balance Solutions is a part time with opprtunity for leading into full time on-site position based in Chilliwack, BC. In this role, the Social Worker will provide direct support to individuals, families, and youth through one-on-one and group sessions, using trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches. Daily responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing and implementing care or support plans, providing crisis intervention, and offering counseling related to mental health, family dynamics, abuse, grief, and life transitions. The Social Worker will also collaborate with community resources, advocate for clients, maintain accurate and confidential documentation, and contribute to the development and facilitation of workshops and group programs. Regular participation in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development is expected to ensure ethical, evidence-informed practice.

Qualifications

  • Education and credentials: Master’s degree in Social Work and five years post masters experience or a closely related field; eligibility for registration or in good standing with a relevant professional body (e.g., provincial social work college or association).
  • Clinical and counseling skills: Experience providing individual, family, or group support; familiarity with trauma-informed, strengths-based, and solution-focused approaches; ability to conduct assessments and develop support or treatment plans.
  • Mental health and crisis expertise: Ability to support clients with anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, grief and loss, abuse recovery, suicide risk, and conflict; experience in crisis intervention and safety planning is an asset.
  • Communication and interpersonal abilities: Strong active listening, empathy, and rapport-building skills; capacity to maintain professional boundaries while creating a safe and inclusive environment for diverse clients.
  • Advocacy and community collaboration: Experience connecting clients with community resources, advocating for client rights, and working with systems related to social justice, human rights, employment, education, or healthcare.
  • Workshop and program facilitation: Ability or interest in developing and delivering workshops or groups in areas such as mental health, conflict mediation, empowerment, leadership, or life skills.
