Company Description The Structural Engineering Club, UAP (formerly CE Structure Club), is one of the most active and long-standing student organizations in the Civil Engineering Department. The club focuses on fostering awareness and enthusiasm about structural engineering and the diverse types of structures found around the world. It promotes appreciation of structural elegance through a variety of academic and co-curricular activities. Regular events include presentation and quiz competitions, project exhibitions, truss competitions, AutoCAD competitions, seminars, workshops, and site visits. The club provides a collaborative environment where students can develop technical skills, expand professional networks, and explore future career paths in structural engineering.

Role Description The Head of the Structural Engineering Club, UAP is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Head is responsible for setting the club’s annual vision and activity plan, coordinating with faculty advisors, and ensuring alignment with departmental and university guidelines. Day-to-day tasks include planning and scheduling events such as competitions, workshops, and site visits, assigning responsibilities to executive members, and overseeing event logistics. The role also involves managing internal and external communications, including outreach to industry professionals, sponsors, and guests. The Head will mentor club members, support their professional development, manage basic budgeting and resource allocation, and maintain documentation and reports on club activities and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership, team management, and organizational skills, with the ability to guide diverse student teams and delegate responsibilities effectively.
  • Demonstrated interest in structural engineering, with foundational knowledge of civil/structural concepts and enthusiasm for learning about innovative structures worldwide.
  • Event planning and coordination skills, including experience organizing competitions, workshops, seminars, or similar student activities.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills in English and Bangla, with the ability to speak confidently to students, faculty, and external guests.
  • Relationship-building and networking abilities, including coordination with faculty members, industry professionals, and external partners.
  • Basic administrative and time-management skills, including scheduling, documentation, report writing, and simple budgeting.
  • Proficiency with common productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, email, and social media for outreach).
  • Currently enrolled student (or recent graduate, as allowed by university rules) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline at UAP, with good academic standing preferred.
  • Prior involvement in the Structural Engineering Club or other student organizations is highly desirable.
