Position Summary
The People & Strategy Partner (PSP) serves as a trusted HR partner, supporting the alignment of HR initiatives with business objectives to drive organizational success. This role plays an important role in executing talent and people strategies for Valiram’s retail operations in Malaysia. Working closely with the Senior Manager – People Strategy Partner and business leaders, the incumbent provides HR advisory and operational support across talent management, employee relations, workforce planning, performance management, employee engagement, and organizational development initiatives. The role also supports HR operations, employee communications, talent acquisition, and policy compliance, ensuring effective implementation of HR programs and practices that support both business objectives and employee experience.
Key Areas of Responsibilities
1. HR Business Partnership
- Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance to assigned business units.
- Acts as a key HR contact for functional leaders and employees.
- Supports execution of people plans set by senior HR leadership.
2. Strategic Alignment
- Support the execution of HR initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Work with business leaders to address people-related matters.
3. Workforce Planning & Talent Management
- Support manpower planning and talent management activities.
- Track development plans, succession planning activities, and internal mobility discussions.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition, L&D, and business stakeholders on talent initiatives.
4. Performance & Culture Management
- Supports goal setting, performance management, and feedback mechanisms.
- Coach managers on employee development, engagement, and behavior issues.
- Promotes a high-performance and values-driven culture.
5. Basic People Analytics & Reporting
- Monitor HR metrics and prepare reports.
- Provide workforce data and insights to stakeholders.
6. Employee Relations & Compliance
- Support employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinary cases, and investigations.
- Ensures compliance with labor laws, policies, and ethical practices.
- Partner with People Governance and Integrity.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or professional certificate in Human Resources Management or a related field.
- Minimum 2-5 years of progressive HR Generalist or HR Business Partner experience.
- Experience in Retail for similar environment is an advantage.
- Good understanding of Malaysian employment laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent and mature communication skills.
- Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proactive, resilient, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluent English and both in written and spoken. Knowledge of other language is added advantage.
