Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Junior Buyer role based in Cairo, Egypt. The Junior Buyer will support the procurement of construction-related materials, equipment, and services for facility and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with company standards and project specifications. Daily responsibilities include gathering and analyzing supplier quotations, preparing purchase orders, updating procurement trackers, and maintaining accurate records in the procurement system. The role will coordinate with project engineers, site teams, and finance to confirm technical requirements, delivery schedules, and budget alignment. The Junior Buyer will assist in supplier pre-qualification, participate in negotiations under supervision, monitor supplier performance, and help resolve delivery or quality issues. The position also involves contributing to cost-saving initiatives, following procurement policies and ethical standards, and supporting regular reporting on purchasing activities.

Qualifications

  • Experience or academic exposure in construction or facility management procurement, with understanding of construction materials, equipment, and basic technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, including ability to compare quotations, evaluate cost and value, and work with spreadsheets and procurement reports.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with internal stakeholders (engineering, site, finance) and external suppliers in a professional manner.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail in documentation, record-keeping, and compliance with procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and Word); familiarity with ERP or procurement systems is an advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field; relevant internships or 1–2 years of purchasing experience are preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic procurement principles, tendering processes, and supplier evaluation; understanding of local market dynamics in Egypt is beneficial.
  • Ability to work on-site in Cairo, adapt to a fast-paced project environment, and uphold high ethical and professional standards in all purchasing activities.
  • Good command of English and Arabic, both written and spoken; additional language skills are a plus.
