Description

We are seeking an experienced HR professional to join our People Services team as Assistant Director - Workplace Relations and Safety.

In this role, you will lead and coach a small team of subject matter experts across workplace relations, workplace health and safety (WHS), and diving operations. The team delivers pragmatic and timely advice and support aligned with relevant legislative and policy frameworks.

Working closely with the broader People Services team and a diverse network of clients and stakeholders, you will build effective relationships and support the delivery of responsive and future-focused HR solutions aligned with APS legislative and policy requirements. The role leads complex casework and primary reviews of action, including workplace complaints, misconduct, performance and behavioural matters, and oversees return to work and rehabilitation processes.

You will provide expert advice on complex workplace relations matters, undertake or facilitate APS Code of Conduct assessments and investigations, and support people leaders in managing performance, conflict and employee-related issues. The role also includes supporting the Reef Authority’s participation in enterprise bargaining (once initiated), alongside contributing to the development and implementation of employment policies, procedures and guidance materials.

In addition, you will develop and deliver education and training programs for managers and employees, monitor legislative and policy developments, and contribute to continuous improvement, reporting, and broader People Services initiatives.
