JOB SUMMARY
Abbott-Action Inc., a leading packaging and POP display manufacturing company located in Attleboro, MA, is seeking a Senior Structural Corrugated Designer with 10+ years of corrugated design experience. ArtiosCAD experience required. The ideal candidate must also bring a strong production/manufacturing background, with deep understanding of corrugated materials, machine capabilities, and production workflows.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Apply advanced structural design expertise exclusively within corrugated packaging and POP (Point-of-Purchase) displays, creating production-ready designs for new and existing customer programs.
- Evaluate customer needs and translate them into ArtiosCAD drawings, 3D renderings, structural designs, and prototypes that align with the capabilities of corrugated POP manufacturing equipment.
- Develop designs, material specs, and manufacturing methods optimized for corrugated packaging and POP display production, including die-cutting, gluing, printing, assembly, kitting, and fulfillment.
- Build, test, and refine corrugated samples for customer presentations, production approval, ISTA/transport testing, and internal validation.
- Perform structural and packaging testing, analyze results, and communicate findings and recommendations to sales, production, and customers.
- Assess existing or prospective customer packaging and POP displays for improvements in cost, durability, assembly efficiency, and retail performance.
- Provide creative input and lead customer design reviews, articulating structural solutions clearly and professionally.
- Train, guide, and support junior designers, sharing advanced knowledge of corrugated packaging and POP display engineering and production processes.
- Collaborate closely with production teams, ensuring designs run efficiently on plant equipment and meet quality standards.
- Comply with all company policies, safety protocols, and housekeeping standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CREDENTIALS
- College education or heavy college coursework in the field of computers, CAD, and drafting, or applicable work experience.
- Good communicator with customers and sales staff.
- 10+ years work experience in corrugated packaging and POP display design.
- Knowledge of Artios CAD, Kongsberg table, and/or similar tools.
- Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office programs.
