The School is committed to disciplinary excellence and interdisciplinary innovation, with a particular focus on Digital Humanities, Medical Humanities, Environmental Humanities and the study of Global Asia.
The Language and Communication Centre (LCC) in SoH offers communication courses to undergraduate and graduate students across the university. Specifically, we teach a first-year communication course, CC0001 Inquiry & Communication in an Interdisciplinary World, which, through scaffolded activities and writing exercises, takes students through the writing process, cultivating habits of thinking that will serve students throughout their four years at university and beyond. We also teach the upper-level discipline specific communication courses for engineering, the humanities, sciences, and social sciences. For all our compulsory communication courses, we emphasise writing as a tool for thinking, student feedback literacy, and rhetorical awareness.
