Finance Director – India (Confidential Mandate)

Location: Mumbai, India

Compensation: Circa INR 75.84 Lakhs per annum

Morgan Philips Group has been retained to exclusively look for a Finance Director with a well-established multinational organization operating within the industrial and manufacturing sector, with a strong global presence and operations across Europe, Asia, and North America.

With a strong manufacturing and export footprint, the India operations play a strategic role in serving both domestic demand and surrounding regional markets. The organisation is part of a highly established global group with robust financial strength, long-term investment backing, and a strong focus on innovation and ESG-driven growth.

Role Purpose

The Finance Director – India will lead the full Finance and Controlling function for the country, acting as a key strategic partner to the Managing Director and regional leadership team.

This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing end-to-end finance, controlling, taxation, compliance, and business partnering, while ensuring strong governance aligned with global group standards (IFRS).

The role is critical in driving profitability, supporting business expansion, strengthening financial controls, and enabling strategic decision-making across manufacturing, supply chain, and export operations.

This position is suited for a hands-on finance leader who can operate at both strategic and operational depth, particularly within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

1) Business Partnering & Strategy

  • Act as key finance partner to the Managing Director and leadership team
  • Support strategic planning, business expansion, and investment decisions
  • Provide financial insights to drive margin improvement and profitability
  • Evaluate commercial initiatives, projects, and growth opportunities

2) Financial Leadership & Controlling

  • Lead full finance and controlling function across India operations
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and rolling financial planning
  • Ensure timely and accurate management reporting and group submissions
  • Deliver monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting

3) Accounting, Reporting & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with IFRS and local statutory requirements
  • Oversee statutory audits and annual financial statements
  • Manage internal controls, governance, and risk management frameworks
  • Ensure timely reporting to group headquarters and regional leadership

4) Tax, Treasury & Cash Management

  • Oversee direct and indirect tax compliance (corporate tax, GST/VAT)
  • Manage deferred tax, transfer pricing, and regulatory filings
  • Drive cash flow optimisation and working capital efficiency
  • Manage FX exposure and support hedging strategies
  • Maintain strong banking relationships and funding requirements

5) Operations, Systems & Controls

  • Ensure strong ERP governance and data integrity (SAP environment)
  • Support IT and finance system improvements in coordination with global teams
  • Strengthen master data quality and reporting consistency
  • Drive process improvements and efficiency initiatives

6) Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead and develop a finance team across accounting, controlling, and support functions
  • Work closely with auditors, tax advisors, banks, and regulators
  • Participate in management and supervisory board-level discussions
  • Ensure alignment with global group policies and governance standards

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified accountant (CA / CPA / ACCA / ICMA or equivalent)
  • 12–18 years of progressive finance experience, including senior leadership exposure
  • Strong background in manufacturing, industrial, FMCG, or multi-site operations
  • Prior experience in multinational or matrix organizations strongly preferred
  • Exposure to India regulatory, tax, and compliance environment essential
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP
  • Deep understanding of taxation, transfer pricing, and compliance
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling
  • Strong ERP experience (SAP preferred)
  • Hands-on and operationally strong finance leader
  • Strong business partnering mindset with commercial acumen
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive decisions
  • High integrity, structured thinking, and strong ownership mindset
