Role Summary:

We are looking for an Avionics Architect to define and lead the avionics architecture for our spacecraft, working from early trade studies through to flight-ready implementation. You will translate spacecraft requirements (defined and driven by Systems Engineering) into a robust and scalable avionics design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the spacecraft avionics architecture
  • Translate system requirements into technical design decisions
  • Manage technical and performance budgets
  • Conduct technical trade studies (e.g. COTS vs. custom solutions, radiation tolerance, redundancy)
  • Review unit designs within your area of expertise
  • Own ICDs and interfaces (internal and external partners), including pinouts, grounding, etc.
  • Lead avionics activities in project reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, QR)
  • Contribute to product line development (delta vs. heritage approach)

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in avionics, embedded systems, or electronics engineering within New Space companies
  • Proven experience owning the architecture of complex embedded/electronic systems
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Digital electronics and embedded systems (MCUs, FPGAs, memory, peripherals
  • Interfaces and protocols (e.g. CAN, Ethernet, SpaceWire, SPI, I2C, UART, PUS, CCSDS
  • Requirements and interface documentation (ICDs), as well as configuration manageme
  • ntVerification and test strategies

6.Fluent English (written and spoken)

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with space systems (CubeSats / SmallSats) and relevant standards (ECSS, NASA practices)
  • Understanding of radiation effects (TID, SEE) and rad-tolerant design approaches
  • EMC/EMI design and testing experience
  • Experience with:
  • RTOS or embedded Linux
  • Safety concepts (FMEA, fault trees)
  • Spacecraft data handling and FDIR
  • PUS communication standards

5.Familiarity with typical subsystem interfaces (ADCS sensors/actuators, EPS, TT&C radios,

payloads)

6.Familiarity with the SpaceVPX standard
