Job Purpose and Organizational Context

The Safety Department is responsible for ensuring that the airline operates safely, reliably, and in compliance with national and international aviation safety standards. Its main purpose is to prevent accidents, incidents, and operational risks by identifying hazards, assessing risks, monitoring safety performance, and promoting a strong safety culture across the organization.

The department supports the airline’s Safety Management System (SMS) by collecting and analyzing safety data, investigating safety reports, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring continuous improvement in flight operations, ground operations, engineering, cabin safety, cargo, security-related interfaces, and other operational areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The day-to-day functioning of Safety Management System (SMS)-related activities under the supervision of the Head of Safety Management and assisting In-Charge Safety Management (SM)
  • Maintenance of the ground safety-related Safety Risk Management (SRM) programs.
  • Assisting the in-charge, SM in analyzing corrective and preventive safety measures to perform and facilitate ground safety-related hazard identification and risk mitigation.
  • Following up with the results from SM-related SRM programs through Safety Assurance (SA) processes and activities.
  • Assisting the in-charge, SM in monitoring and measuring ground safety-related safety performance and effectiveness of safety risk controls through Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs).
  • Assisting the in-charge, SM in the arrangement of Safety Review Committee (SRC) meetings.
  • Assisting the in-charge, SM in conducting and evaluating departmental and unit-level SMS training and briefings.
  • Collecting ground safety-related films, posters, and bulletins to display at the relevant places in a befitting manner as a part of creating safety awareness at all levels.
  • Researching and informing regarding applicable software and safety data analysis-related online support for efficient practice of safety management systems in USBA.

Recruitment Requirement

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any concentration.
  • Candidates with extracurricular activities will have an added advantage.
  • 0 – 2 years of experience in working in a role related to safety or safety management.
