About The Role

As Senior Policy and Advocacy Advisor, you will be instrumental in guiding CCQ’s policy and advocacy work. You will monitor and interpret the external environment, including government policy, regulatory settings, industry trends and stakeholder sentiment, and providing strategic advice that informs advocacy and policy outcomes across the organisation. By translating complex information into practical guidance, you will help ensure leaders are well informed, proactive and clear on how public policy and stakeholder dynamics align with organisational priorities.

Your Role Will Include

  • Leading policy analysis by monitoring political, legislative, sector and community developments, identifying reform opportunities and organisational risks.
  • Building strategic relationships with relevant stakeholders to ensure CCQ has open access to decision makers and influencers to disseminate and collaborate on policy and strategic positions, including maintaining a stakeholders database
  • In consultation with Senior Leadership, developing and delivering on an advocacy and policy strategy and work plan which incorporates objectives and specific measures of success

About you

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in public policy, government relations, communications or public health (preferred).
  • Experience in policy, advocacy or government relations, ideally within public health, mental health or broader social policy
  • Ability to intentionally and measurably lead the development and delivery of the advocacy and policy strategy and progress its outcomes.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to effectively manager stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a cross functional team environment to help deliver projects and new strategic initiatives.
  • Strong data management skills and business acumen with the ability to identify opportunities between external initiatives and mission delivery.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence external stakeholders at multiple levels in organisations.
  • Knowledge of the structures and processes of Queensland’s and Australia’s political and health policy environment (well regarded).
  • Proven success in influencing changes in policy and systems.
