⭐What is the role about:

The Sr. Expert ABAP & Technical Release Management is responsible for driving the technical excellence of ABAP development and ensuring a robust, scalable, and secure release process across the Borealis Group SAP landscape. This role bridges development and DevOps by owning CI/CD workflows, code quality governance, and technical validation processes (including CVA checks), while enabling teams to deliver high‑quality SAP solutions efficiently.

The position acts as a key technical reference for ABAP within the Borealis Group, setting development standards, guiding developers, and ensuring that modern development practices are consistently applied across systems, teams, and environments.

.✔Responsibilities:

• Provide ABAP Technical Leadership by driving best practices in modern ABAP development (ABAP OO, RESTful ABAP, CDS, performance optimization) and acting as a technical authority across the SAP landscape.
• Define, maintain, and enforce development standards including coding guidelines, reusable frameworks, and development patterns to ensure consistency, scalability, and maintainability.
• Act as a technical sparring partner for ABAP development teams, supporting complex technical designs, implementations, and problem resolution.
• Lead code quality initiatives by governing ATC checks, custom code analysis, and remediation activities to continuously improve technical quality.
• Own and optimize the ABAP development workflow in Bitbucket, including branching strategies, pull request models, and code review practices.
• Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for ABAP development, ensuring seamless integration between SAP systems and external DevOps tooling.
• Continuously improve automation, testing, and deployment processes to increase delivery efficiency, reliability, and transparency.
• Own and enforce quality and security governance, including CVA (Code Vulnerability Analyzer) checks and other mandatory security validations within the development lifecycle.
• Define, implement, and monitor quality gates within CI/CD pipelines to ensure all developments meet security, compliance, and quality standards before release.
• Collaborate closely with security and architecture teams to identify, assess, and mitigate technical and security risks early in the development cycle.
• Coordinate technical readiness of SAP releases across development teams, ensuring alignment, stability, and integrity of code across environments via CI processes

✔ Requirements.

• Education: Master Degree Software Engineering /Business relevant professional education in IT&C studies, reflected by a Master degree. / Additional education and training in IT field
• Excellent hands‑on knowledge of ABAP development, including ABAP OO, ABAP on HANA / AMDP, and RESTful ABAP (RAP), applied in complex SAP environments.
• Excellent knowledge of modern SAP development paradigms, including CDS views, OData services, and performance optimization techniques.
• Proven experience designing, setting up, and operating CI/CD pipelines for SAP / ABAP development in enterprise landscapes.
• Excellent understanding of Git‑based development workflows, including branching strategies, pull requests, code reviews, and collaborative development models (e.g. Bitbucket or similar platforms).
• Strong experience with CI/CD and automation tooling, such as Bitbucket Pipelines, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or comparable solutions.
• Excellent knowledge of code quality and security practices, including the use of ATC, SCI, and Code Vulnerability Analyzer (CVA).
• Very good understanding of SAP system architecture and the end‑to‑end development lifecycle, from design and build to testing and release.
• Strong knowledge of SAP integration patterns and API‑based communication within complex, integrated SAP landscapes.
• Excellent understanding of DevOps principles and agile delivery models, applied pragmatically in SAP development contexts.
• Proven experience defining and maintaining branching strategies and code integration flows, ensuring scalable, stable, and reliable delivery processes.
• Ability to translate development practices into automated, repeatable, and scalable delivery processes, balancing quality, speed, and risk.
• Ability to work effectively across functions and contribute constructively with developers, architects, DevOps, and security teams.
• Fluent English skills (spoken and written).
