I am seeking a driven and commercially minded Business Development Manager to lead growth across the Northeastern United States for a leading manufacturer and supplier of building materials within the USA.
This role is responsible for developing new business, strengthening customer relationships, expanding market share, and identifying opportunities across the region’s construction, distribution, and contractor markets.
The ideal candidate will bring strong industry knowledge, a proven track record of territory growth, and the ability to build long-term strategic partnerships.
MAIN JOB TASKS:
- Develop and execute a territory growth plan across the Northeast USA.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with distributors, contractors, architects, specifiers, dealers, and other key channel partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to maximise account penetration and long-term revenue growth.
- Promote the company’s product portfolio and value proposition through consultative selling.
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and lead generation through to negotiation and closing.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to inform strategy.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams including marketing, product management, operations, and customer service to ensure excellent delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Provide regular territory forecasting, pipeline management, and sales reporting.
- Attend trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings as required.
- Represent the company professionally and act as a trusted adviser to customers and partners.
Qualifications:
- Proven success in business development, territory sales, or regional account management within the building materials, construction products, or related manufacturing sector.
- Strong knowledge of the Northeast USA market and relevant customer channels.
- Experience selling into distributors, contractors, architects, commercial construction, or specification-led environments, to pull through demand.
- Demonstrated ability to generate new business and grow existing accounts.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to work independently across a broad territory.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the Northeastern USA.
