Job Summary

Works under general supervision to assist in technical work of research laboratory or project. Performs routine, standard, and least complex technical laboratory duties.

  • Maintain and wash glassware for multiple PI laboratories within the Molecular Biology Department. 2. Operate all equipment in the prep room, including washers, driers, and autoclaves. 3. Perform basic, routine procedures as prescribed by supervisor. 5. Autoclave biohazard material and keeping records. 6. Communicate guidelines and compliance information to laboratories.

JOB DUTIES

  • Prepares laboratory specimens.
  • Assembles and operates standard laboratory equipment.
  • Collects and records data which may involve arithmetic computations.
  • Prepares standard reagents and culture media.
  • Examines experimentally infected laboratory animals to detect and record symptoms associated with variety of animal diseases.
  • Weighs, positions, and performs pre-operative shaving of animals.
  • Takes vital signs of animals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
