The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Executive to lead growth across Victoria and South Australia.
Reporting to the Sales Director, you will own and expand your customer portfolio, identify new opportunities, and build long-term partnerships with local government and water utilities.
This is a high-impact role suited to someone who thrives in complex sales environments, enjoys developing new business, and can influence outcomes at a senior level.
Key responsibilities
Sales and growth
- Own and grow a portfolio of new and existing customer accounts across VIC/SA.
- Demonstrate strong new business “hunting” capability, from initial engagement through to cross-selling.
- Identify, develop, and convert opportunities through to close.
- Proactively source leads and pursue new markets.
- Achieve and exceed agreed sales targets.
- Drive sales across hardware, software, and services offerings.
Customer and market engagement
- Build strong, trusted relationships with councils, water authorities, and utilities.
- Engage confidently with executive and C-suite stakeholders.
- Identify expansion opportunities within existing accounts.
- Represent Taggle at industry events, conferences, and forums.
- Capture customer insights to support continuous improvement.
Collaboration and delivery
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to deliver tailored, customer-focused solutions.
- Contribute to RFIs, tenders, and proposals.
- Provide market insights to inform product development.
Reporting and governance
- Maintain accurate pipeline, forecasting, and CRM data.
- Report on performance, trends, and market opportunities
About you
You are a commercially astute and results-driven sales professional with a strong history managing complex, long-cycle B2B opportunities.
You bring high energy, drive, and a proactive approach to winning new business, balanced with the credibility to engage senior stakeholders and articulate complex solutions in a clear and compelling way.
You are adaptable, confident under pressure, and comfortable managing multiple concurrent opportunities over extended sales cycles. You combine strong commercial judgement with integrity, professionalism, and a collaborative mindset.
Skills and experience
- Proven experience selling into local government and/or utilities.
- Strong background in technology-enabled sales (software, hardware, IoT, or services)
- Demonstrated success securing multi-million-dollar deals across enterprise and government customers.
- Experience transitioning opportunities from smaller engagements into large-scale contracts.
- Strong commercial acumen across forecasting, pipeline management, and revenue growth.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation and influencing capability.
- Experience managing long, complex sales cycles with multiple stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience in digital water, IoT, SCADA, sensors, or data platforms.

Qualifications and background
- Relevant tertiary qualification in business, commerce, engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years’ experience in senior sales or business development roles within a medium to large organisation.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Demonstrated experience managing large, complex sales opportunities with extended sales cycles.
- Experience presenting technical and commercial solutions to a wide range of stakeholders.

- Availability for regular domestic travel.
