OSP Engineer

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an OSP Engineer to support telecommunications infrastructure projects. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity with the potential for long-term employment. The ideal candidate will have experience with OSP engineering and design, including aerial and underground fiber networks, FTTH network design, AutoCAD, GIS tools, and permitting processes.

Job Scope

The OSP Engineer will support the design and development of telecommunications infrastructure projects, focusing on aerial and underground fiber networks. This role is responsible for creating engineering drawings and design packages using AutoCAD and GIS tools while ensuring compliance with permitting requirements, client standards, and industry regulations. Candidates should have experience with FTTH design and a general understanding of QA/QC processes and engineering deliverable reviews.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop OSP engineering designs for telecommunications infrastructure projects

• Create and maintain engineering drawings using AutoCAD and GIS tools

• Design aerial and underground fiber network routes

• Prepare construction drawings and supporting design documentation

• Support permitting activities and ensure compliance with applicable requirements

• Review field data and incorporate findings into engineering designs

• Coordinate with project teams to support project deliverables and timelines

• Ensure designs meet client standards and industry requirements

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of OSP engineering or telecommunications design experience

• Proficiency with AutoCAD

• Experience using GIS tools

• Experience designing aerial and underground fiber networks

• Experience with FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) network design

• Knowledge of permitting processes and regulatory compliance requirements

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with QA/QC processes and engineering design reviews

• Experience with fiber optic network design and deployment projects

• Familiarity with telecommunications construction drawings, NEC, NESC, and industry standards
