Student assistant: Data and AI engineer

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Student Assistant Data and AI engineer to support the digitalization of our Engine lifecycle management organization

In this role, you will assist with various proof of concept developing Data and AI solutions to support the digitalization of the product development and administrative processes. You will have the opportunity to continue learning and explore designing and implementing intelligent workflows, custom AI agents, automation solutions and data analytics solution, gaining great insight and experiences for your professional development in data and AI.

You will play an important role in:

• Gather insights and digitalization opportunities where AI solutions can add value within different areas such as product costing, risk assessment, quality, classification etc.
• Design and implement data engineering workflows, custom AI agents, and automation solutions
• Developing and deploying machine learning and AI models in the cloud
• Collaborate with power platform software developers to ensure seamless integration of AI modules into successful applications
• Opportunity to support wide range of AI projects and proof of concepts such as: Chatbot, QR code reading, intelligent documents processing, requirements elicitation, etc.
• Assisting in the development and maintenance solutions documentation
• Conducting research and staying updated on the latest data engineering, AI, and cloud development trends and technologies
• Providing support in data visualization and reporting task

We imagine that you:

• Are currently enrolled in a university program (preferably in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field that includes Business Analytics or AI).
• Strong interest in Generative AI technologies , Machine Learning and software engineering
• Have experience with programming languages such as Python, R or Java
• Familiar with data preprocessing, cleaning, and analysis and Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS and Azure are a plus
• Familiar with tools (e.g., Power BI, excel, copilot studio, etc.) and can create basic reports and dashboards
• Strong analytical skills to identify issues, think critically, and develop effective solutions
• Self motivation and a growth/entrepreneur mindset is a must
• Are able to work independently and as part of a team
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Fluency in English

You will join the Lifecycle Processes and Digital Applications department within the functional area Engine Lifecycle Management. We are a part of a unified Engineering Two-Stroke organisation with the clear ambition to reflect our role as the crankshaft of the MAN ES Engine lifecycle, responsible for the overall end-to-end processes covering the full engine lifecycle.

Alongside our colleagues within the functional area, we ensure production process validation and quality in the supply chain, and safe and compliant market introduction of marine products through an efficient approval process.

We collaborate with a wide range of departments within Engineering, R&D and our after-sales organization PrimeServ. The working atmosphere is relaxed and all are committed to succeeding as a team by being supportive, flexible and sharing knowledge and experience. There is space for creativity and new ideas.
