The European Broadcasting Union’s (EBU) US subsidiary, Eurovision News Americas, is looking for freelance news producers. This would be in-person in our Washington, DC office near Dupont Circle and would involve shift work, including on weekends and evenings from 4pm – midnight.
About Eurovision News Americas
Eurovision News Americas (ENA) is the US subsidiary of the EBU's News operations, primarily serving the Eurovision News Exchange (EVN).
In operation since 1961, the EVN is the biggest exchange of its kind. It is built upon a network of nearly 70 EBU Member and sublicensee newsrooms in over 50 countries and is founded on principles of editorial integrity, solidarity, and sharing of knowledge and best practices.
In addition to serving the EVN, Eurovision News Americas provides news-related broadcast services and office space to EBU Members and affiliates and is an advocate for public service journalism in the Americas.
Principal Responsibilities Of This Position
The Producer will have a strong background in international broadcast and digital news, with excellent news judgement. They will work primarily on serving the Eurovision News Exchange where they source video news content and write accompanying scripts or news stories. They will also demonstrate a willingness to work with international teams and on flexible hours, especially in the evenings. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable interest in, and understanding of, North, Central and South American current affairs.
