Position Summary

Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex business processes to identify improvement opportunities and deliver both tactical solutions and strategic recommendations
  • Utilize advanced SQL techniques to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets to support business decision-making
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business problems into actionable outputs and design solutions that anticipate organizational changes
  • Take full ownership of projects from initial stakeholder requests through final delivery and implementation
  • Proactively identify patterns across business domains and propose innovative approaches to recurring challenges
  • Monitor key input and output metrics to understand their connection to broader organizational goals
  • Determine appropriate solutions for business needs, distinguishing between automation requirements and one-time analytical requests
  • Apply diagnostic techniques including root cause analysis, mix/rate calculations, and Pareto analysis to generate actionable insights
  • Establish quality checks in automated solutions and flag upstream data issues to appropriate providers
  • Optimize analytical best practices and improve overall team efficiency
  • Mentor developing team members and share knowledge to elevate team capabilities
  • Facilitate productive dialogue across multiple organizational levels to manage priorities and identify risks
  • Create mechanisms that promote equity and minimize perpetuation of inequity in products and services
  • Participate in recruiting activities to build strong analytical teams

Required Skills

  • Advanced SQL proficiency, preferably within Amazon Redshift or similar relational database environments
  • Demonstrated expertise with complex joins, window functions, Common Table Expressions (CTEs), aggregations, subqueries, and query optimization
  • Strong ability to manipulate, transform, and analyze large datasets independently
  • Expertise in data visualization tools and best practices
  • Strong spreadsheet skills for data analysis and modeling
  • Deep understanding of relational database concepts and client-server architectures
  • Diagnostic analysis techniques including root cause analysis and statistical methods
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to balance short-term deliverables and long-term planning
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities
  • Project management skills with the ability to drive initiatives to completion
  • Problem-solving abilities with the capacity to work independently and know when to engage team support
  • Documentation skills to ensure work quality and knowledge transfer
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement

Experience

  • 4–6 years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, data analytics, or related analytical roles
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality analytical solutions that drive business decisions
  • Hands-on experience writing complex SQL queries in a production environment, including extensive use of joins, window functions, CTEs, and aggregations
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets and developing scalable reporting or analytical solutions
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and direct the work of others
  • Experience translating complex business requirements into technical specifications
  • Experience with Amazon Redshift preferred; candidates should possess strong foundational SQL knowledge that enables them to work across SQL-based platforms

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

This posting is for a contract assignment with Tundra Technical Solutions to provide services to Amazon. The pay range that Tundra in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $31.60/hour - $35.81/hour. Tundra’s benefits offering includes optional medical, dental, vision, retirement benefits, and a New Child Benefit.
