Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Staff Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement software solutions that enable members to access and understand their health data in real time. This role is instrumental in leading engineering efforts, ensuring scalability, performance, security, and reliability across our systems.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with hands-on development experience, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for revolutionizing health technology. You will help shape our platform as we scale and influence how users engage with their health information.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Development

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, robust, and maintainable software solutions.
  • Balance hands-on coding responsibilities with engineering leadership and technical oversight.
  • Establish engineering excellence and ensure systems are built for long-term scalability and performance.
  • Drive high-impact projects from conception through delivery, aligned with company objectives.
  • Solve complex technical challenges and continuously improve platform capabilities.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and apply innovative approaches to advance healthcare technology.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, Design, Data, Operations, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership and clarity in engineering decisions.
  • Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences and ensure alignment across teams.

Qualifications & Skills

Required Experience

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, including significant leadership experience within startup environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex software development initiatives while remaining actively involved in coding.
  • Experience building and maintaining large-scale systems.

Technical Expertise

  • Extensive software development experience with strong proficiency in Python.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Google Cloud, and Docker.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles and best practices, including:
  • Agile methodologies
  • Test-driven development (TDD)
  • Continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complex systems.
  • Ability to design and build scalable, resilient applications.

  • Experience building and deploying machine learning services.

Startup Experience

  • Experience as a founder, early engineering hire, or startup technical leader.

Health Technology Experience

  • Familiarity with health technologies such as:
  • Oura
  • Whoop
  • Apple Watch
  • Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs)

Key Projects & Initiatives

AI-Powered Health Analysis Tools

Lead or contribute to AI-powered health analysis tools that generate personalized insights, recommendations, and predictions from health data. Responsibilities include optimizing algorithms, refining data models, and ensuring scalability, accuracy, and reliability.

Health Data Integration

Enhance integration across diverse health data sources, including wearable devices, medical records, and related systems. Ensure secure, seamless, and efficient data flow that enables comprehensive health insights and a holistic view of member health.
