Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role based in New York, NY, with flexibility for some remote work. The Senior Transmission Engineer will oversee the design, failure analysis, and maintenance of underground transmission feeders, support new substation and interconnection projects, and ensure compliance with industry and safety standards. Responsibilities include conducting routing studies, specify high-voltage underground cable systems from rating requirements to installation details, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing technical expertise to support critical infrastructure improvements. The role also involves driving innovation and ensuring quality in all projects to align with Con Edison’s commitment to sustainability and reliability.

Qualifications

Strong knowledge and experience in Transmission-Class Underground Cable Systems design, including High-Pressure Pipe-Type and Solid Dielectric cables

  • Expertise in Electrical Engineering concepts and their application to high-voltage power systems
  • Proficiency in Project Management, including planning, coordinating, and executing engineering projects
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; advanced degree is a plus
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred
  • Prior experience in utility or energy sector is a strong advantage
