The Director, Food & Nutrition is responsible for leading all commercial and business development activities across the Food & Nutrition segment in the United States. This role owns both strategic and commercial direction of the business, driving profitable revenue growth, building key industry relationships, and aligning cross-functional resources to capitalize on market opportunities and expand IMCD’s footprint.

Reporting to the President, IMCD US, this individual will be a critical member and partner for the US Leadership Team to lead the sales organization, drive the business strategy and ultimate success. Additionally, there is a matrix reporting relationship with the Global Food & Nutrition Director to drive close global collaboration and coordination.

The ideal incumbent will possess an innate curiosity with a desire to win, have a strong business acumen, be a strategic thinker, and have proven success in managing a P&L and building high performing sales teams to drive strong sales opportunity pipelines, grow sales and increase profitability. They will also have a strong penchant for creating a collaborative culture across the organization and embodying the IMCD values. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the market and be comfortable building and growing relationships with customers, suppliers and the wider industry. Additionally, they will be comfortable engaging with market players on M&A opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Leadership: Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing sales team to achieve and exceed sales targets. Establish clear sales strategies and objectives that align with the company’s goals, including core focus on organic growth, as well as supporting principal expansion and M&A activities.
  • Revenue Growth: Drive top-line revenue growth by identifying new market opportunities, expanding the customer base, and improving sales processes. Create scalable sales systems to support sustained growth policies and programs that align with business goals and drive business results.
  • Market Expansion: Identify new markets, industries, and verticals to drive growth. Cultivate relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders to open new business opportunities.
  • Sales Forecasting & Reporting: Oversee accurate sales forecasting and performance tracking. Regularly report on sales performance, opportunities, and challenges to the executive team. Leverages data to tell a story and help drive fact-based decision making for our leaders and organization.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with principal management, marketing, finance, customer service, regulatory, and supply chain to ensure a cohesive and aligned approach to customer service, onboarding, retention, and growth.
  • Budget Management: Manage the commercial team budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve sales targets while maintaining cost control.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Ensure the sales team prioritizes customer needs and experience, building long-term relationships with customers and maintaining high satisfaction. Ensure digital marketing and digital tools (portal, lead management, sales assistant) are deployed effectively.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related field, with Master’s Degree preferred (or MBA)
  • At least 10 years of progressive sales leadership and P&L management experience, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth in a senior sales role
  • Deep knowledge of nutrition ingredients, applications, and market dynamics, with strong industry connections
  • Proven experience working with brand owners, contract manufacturers, and supplier networks
  • Deep understanding of sales processes, methodologies, and best practices
  • Previous experience as a Sales Director, VP of Sales, or equivalent position, preferably in Food & Nutrition
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams, work with C-level executives, and influence cross-functionally
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
