Full-time TA positions open - FP PG Foundation Studio 2026

The FP PG Foundation Studio 2026 begins this Monsoon Semester (20th July - 28th November 2026). The Foundation Studio is the first studio at the Master’s level for all the students enrolled in the Master’s in Urban Transportation Systems, Urban Planning, Urban Infrastructure and Urban Design. The studio seeks to build core competencies, skill sets, and a deep understanding of urban settlements for future urban planners, designers, and policymakers. The studio is called 'Understanding the City' studio. The studio has about 180 students divided into 12 studio units. Each studio unit is led by one faculty member and supported by one teaching associate.

As part of the teaching team for the Foundation Studio, there are thirteen teaching associates. The TAs form an integral part of the daily operations and management of the studio while also assisting faculty members in carrying out academic exercises. The Teaching Associate should have completed a Master's degree in either of these specialisations - Architecture, Planning, Geomatics, and Urban Design, or any related urban discipline, and should have a minimum work experience of one year. The job details are as follows:

Position: Full-time Teaching Associate for Foundation Studio 2026

Faculty: Faculty of Planning, CEPT University

Job Duration: 13th July 2026 – 19th December 2026 (6 months contract - exact dates in the contract might vary) / Full-time

Remuneration: As per University pay bands (approx. Rs.40,000 - 55,000 per month based on the years of experience)

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Geomatics, or Urban Planning, or a Master’s degree in the related fields in the Urban Sector.

Work Experience Required: Minimum 1 year

Prerequisites: Good working knowledge of GIS, statistics, and visual communication

The TA position for the Foundation Studio is a full-time commitment (8.5 hours/5 day work week). The selected candidates cannot do any other professional work during their full-time contract at CEPT.

The Roles and Responsibilities of the TA include:

1. A faculty member will teach 15-17 students in one of the studio units. The TA will assist them in the unit by being a bridge between students and faculty. There are twelve such studio units in the foundation studio. The Teaching Associate will coordinate with other TAs from the different studio units and make sure that there is parity in teaching, grading, and other academic processes in the Studio.

2. Be punctual, organized, and sincere about the task assigned, and lead by example to a group of assigned students.

3. The TA will assist faculty members in course/exercise preparations and conducting studio sessions and weekly evaluations. This would also include taking up preparatory exercises trial runs a month before the studio starts. Before the studio begins, the TA should have a good working knowledge of GIS, Autocad, Photoshop, Sketchup, and any other required software.

4. The TA should be able to engage in independent sessions with the students about specific skills, studio exercises, and various urban planning/design concepts.

5. We have an international winter school as part of the Foundation Semester. Some TA’s will get an opportunity to be part of this winter school based on their performance.
