Role Summary
To support our continued growth, we are seeking a Network Engineer to manage and support our network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have proven success as a Network Engineer, with strong expertise in managing Cisco routers and switches and experience working with Azure and AWS environments. This role is part of the Cloud Infrastructure team and supports network infrastructure across cloud platforms and colocation data centers in the United States.
This position is based in Jersey City, New Jersey, and may require travel within the United States, including to colocation data centers in Ashburn, Virginia, and Secaucus, New Jersey, as needed.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Monitor and manage network operations remotely.
- Provide 24/7 NOC support for a distributed LAN and WAN environment.
- Deliver Level 2 and Level 3 support for incident management and network issue resolution.
- Configure and manage Cisco Integrated Services Routers in colocation data centers in Ashburn, Virginia, and Secaucus, New Jersey, with travel to these sites as needed.
- Troubleshoot issues across network layers 1 through 4, with a solid understanding of higher-layer behavior on transit networks.
- Manage IP routing protocols including OSPF and BGP, as well as Layer 4 load balancing.
- Configure and maintain load balancers and Cisco Layer 3 switches.
- Support cloud network configurations across Azure and AWS, including VPCs, EC2, VPNs, RDS, peering, NAT gateways, and security groups.
- Create MOPs and SOPs and support change management planning.
- Tune network performance and proactively identify issues before they affect customers.
- Work with telecommunications providers to resolve escalated circuit issues.
- Plan and perform upgrades to network and security devices.
- Collaborate with hardware and software vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Act as the SME and primary point of contact for networking-related vendor and clearing house relationships.
- Provide technical input for weekly and monthly customer service review reports.
- Work in shifts when required and contribute as part of a team responsible for network support, problem management, and performance optimization.
What You Bring (Skills & Qualifications)
Must-Haves
- At least 5 years of experience in the IT industry.
- CCNA or CCNP certification is required.
- Hands-on experience with Layer 3 switches and routers.
- Strong understanding of Infrastructure-as-a-Service cloud integration across AWS and Azure.
- Good knowledge of ACLs in Cisco routers and switches.
- Understanding of internet applications, protocols, and traffic management.
- Working knowledge of MPLS-VPNs (Layer 2 and Layer 3), NAT, IPSec, and SSL VPNs.
- Understanding of QoS, wireless communication, and load balancing and sharing techniques.
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience in enterprise LAN and WAN environments.
- Strong subject matter expertise in Cisco and/or Juniper network platforms.
- Technical expertise in routing protocols such as RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP, as well as switching protocols including VLANs, trunking, Dot1x, and STP variants.
- Experience troubleshooting circuits such as T1/E1, T3/E3, and Ethernet is preferred.
- Experience using monitoring tools to manage and monitor network devices.
