The Food Safety & Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day food safety and quality activities on the manufacturing floor to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and internal quality standards. This role leads QA technicians, enforces food safety programs, supports continuous improvement, and partners closely with Operations to ensure Stellar Snacks produces safe, high-quality products consistently.

Key Responsibilities

Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable food safety regulations (FDA, FSMA, USDA where applicable, state and local regulations).
  • Implement, maintain, and monitor food safety systems including HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, allergen control, and sanitation programs.
  • Conduct routine plant audits and inspections to verify food safety and quality standards are met.
  • Support third-party and customer audits (e.g., SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000), including audit preparation, execution, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping for food safety programs.

Quality Assurance & Product Quality

  • Supervise quality inspections of raw materials, in-process product, and finished goods.
  • Manage product holds, deviations, and disposition decisions in coordination with Operations and Management.
  • Review production records, lab results, and quality data to identify trends and drive corrective actions.
  • Ensure adherence to product specifications, labeling requirements, and customer quality standards.

Team Leadership & Training

  • Supervise, train, and coach Quality Assurance Technicians.
  • Ensure team members are properly trained on food safety, quality, GMPs, and plant policies.
  • Promote a strong food safety culture by reinforcing expectations and accountability across all shifts.

Corrective & Preventive Actions

  • Lead root cause investigations for quality or food safety issues, including customer complaints and internal nonconformances.
  • Develop and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prevent recurrence.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Engineering to improve food safety and quality performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and enhance product consistency.
  • Support new product launches, process changes, and equipment installations from a food safety and quality perspective.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in food manufacturing quality or food safety, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP, FSMA, GMPs, allergen control, and sanitation programs.
  • Experience with food safety audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
