Junior Software Engineer

Description

Junior Fullstack Engineer (Integrations)

Manchester (Hybrid, 2 days per week)

Most junior engineering roles involve working on small pieces of a much larger platform.

This one gives you ownership of a specific problem from the start.

We're working with a funded startup that's helping young people discover careers through behavioural science and AI-driven matching.

The product is live, customers are using it, and the business is now focused on expanding the ecosystem around it.

The next challenge is integrations.

Applicant Tracking Systems, HR platforms and partner systems all need to connect reliably to the platform. As the business grows, those integrations become increasingly important to both customer experience and commercial growth.

The opportunity here is to become the engineer helping build and maintain those connections, working alongside an experienced fractional CTO and established engineering partners who will support your development.

Why this role is interesting:

Exposure to Real Integration Challenges

You'll work with APIs, webhooks and third-party platforms from day one.

The benefit is experience that many engineers don't get until much later in their careers.

Structured Technical Development

You'll have support from experienced technical leaders rather than being expected to figure everything out alone.

The benefit is accelerated learning without being thrown in at the deep end.

Modern Technology Stack

You'll gain exposure across Node.js, React, PostgreSQL and AWS.

The benefit is building experience in technologies that are widely used across modern SaaS businesses.

Clear Growth Path

The role is designed with development in mind, with opportunities to broaden your responsibilities as your skills grow.

The benefit is progression without needing to move companies every year.

You'll:

  • Build and maintain integrations with third-party platforms
  • Work with APIs, webhooks and external systems
  • Help solve technical problems that aren't always obvious from the documentation
  • Support the development of new platform capabilities
  • Collaborate closely with technical and product stakeholders
  • Contribute across both backend and frontend development

What we're looking for:

  • 1–2 years of commercial software engineering experience
  • Experience with JavaScript / TypeScript
  • Exposure to Node.js and/or React
  • Experience consuming APIs
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Curiosity and a desire to keep learning

Particularly interesting backgrounds include:

  • Recruitment Technology
  • HR Technology
  • Payroll Technology
  • SaaS platforms with third-party integrations

Location:

Hybrid, Manchester city centre (2 days per week).

Package:

£40,000 - £45,000 (potential stretch dependent on candidate).

If you're looking for a role that will accelerate your development and expose you to real-world integration challenges, we'd be keen to speak with you.
