Module Equipment Engineer – Module Assembly Line

Position Summary
The Module Equipment Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all equipment-related activities for the module assembly line at the Jamestown facility. This role ensures stable operation, maintenance, continuous improvement, and technical optimization of production equipment to support high-quality and high-efficiency battery module manufacturing.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, production, and external vendors (e.g., equipment suppliers and integrators) to ensure equipment readiness, reliability, and scalability.
This role is critical to ensuring production readiness and supporting the scale-up of high-performance battery module manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Management & Operations:
- Lead the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of module assembly line equipment
- Ensure high equipment uptime (OEE) and production efficiency
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Manage equipment lifecycle including installation, commissioning, and upgrades
Installation & Commissioning:
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment (e.g., welding systems, assembly stations, inspection systems)
- Coordinate with equipment vendors during FAT/SAT and on-site activities
- Validate equipment performance against specifications
Technical Leadership & Troubleshooting:
- Provide hands-on technical support for critical equipment issues
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions
- Support process optimization and cycle time improvement initiatives
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement opportunities for productivity, yield, and quality improvements
- Support automation enhancements and process standardization
- Work with MES/controls teams to improve data integration and equipment monitoring
Team Management:
- Build and lead a team of technicians and maintenance staff
- Develop training programs for equipment operation and maintenance
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and operational procedures
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all equipment complies with safety standards (e.g., NFPA, local codes)
- Support implementation of safety systems (e.g., interlocks, fire protection considerations)
- Lead equipment-related risk assessments and mitigation plans
Vendor & Stakeholder Management:
- Act as primary interface with equipment suppliers and service providers
- Manage service contracts, spare parts, and technical documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Production, Quality, EHS)
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in equipment engineering or maintenance within manufacturing environment
- Experience with automated production lines (battery, automotive, electronics preferred)
- Hands-on experience with equipment installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Experience working with international equipment vendors
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of automation systems, PLCs, and industrial controls
- Familiarity with welding systems (laser welding preferred), assembly equipment, and inspection systems
- Strong understanding of MES integration and data-driven manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems and reliability engineering

Preferred Experience:
- Experience in lithium-ion battery manufacturing (cell, module, or pack level)
- Experience with module configurations (e.g.,1S6P, 9S2P)
- Knowledge of safety standards related to battery manufacturing and fire protection systems
- Experience with FAT/SAT and equipment validation processes
