Job Title: Cybersecurity Intern (Remote – UK/EU Time Zone)
About the Role
We are hiring on behalf of our client for a proactive and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Intern to support the protection of systems, networks, and data. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about security, threat detection, and risk mitigation, and who are eager to gain hands-on experience in a solutions-driven, remote environment aligned with UK/EU time zones.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring and analyzing security alerts and incidents
- Support vulnerability assessments and penetration testing activities
- Help identify and mitigate security risks and threats
- Participate in implementing and maintaining security controls and policies
- Analyze logs from systems, networks, and applications for suspicious activity
- Assist in incident response and documentation
- Conduct research on emerging cybersecurity threats and trends
- Support compliance and audit-related security tasks
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
- Basic understanding of network security concepts (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS)
- Familiarity with operating systems (Linux/Unix and Windows)
- Knowledge of common security principles (CIA triad, authentication, encryption)
- Understanding of web security basics (OWASP Top 10)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work remotely in US/EU time zones
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to security tools (e.g., SIEM tools like Splunk, Wireshark, Nessus)
- Basic scripting knowledge (Python, Bash, or PowerShell)
- Familiarity with cloud security concepts (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Understanding of identity and access management (IAM)
- Knowledge of ethical hacking or penetration testing concepts
- Relevant certifications (or in progress) such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, etc.
