Job Description

The Trade Compliance Specialist will support U.S. import and export compliance activities with a primary focus on customs entry review, broker management, HTS classification, customs valuation, country of origin analysis, post-entry corrections, and customs compliance auditing.

This role works closely with customs brokers, internal stakeholders, and compliance partners to ensure import transactions are accurate, compliant, and aligned with U.S. Customs regulations. The ideal candidate will bring recent hands-on experience in customs compliance, customs brokerage, import compliance, or trade compliance and be comfortable analyzing entry data, identifying discrepancies, and driving corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and audit U.S. customs entries for accuracy related to HTS classification, customs valuation, and country of origin.
  • Work directly with customs brokers to resolve entry discrepancies, filing errors, and documentation issues.
  • Identify, document, and drive post-entry corrections related to duties, tariffs, and compliance matters.
  • Monitor broker performance and support corrective actions when deficiencies are identified.
  • Conduct internal audits of customs entries, broker filings, and supporting documentation.
  • Support import transactions subject to Section 232, Section 301, and other applicable trade programs.
  • Utilize ACE reporting and Power BI dashboards to monitor import activity, identify trends, and assess compliance risks.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and audit documentation.
  • Partner with Procurement, Operations, Finance, Logistics, and external service providers to ensure compliance requirements are met.
  • Provide practical guidance to internal teams on U.S. import and export compliance requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to trade compliance processes and controls.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of recent experience in Trade Compliance, Customs Compliance, Import Compliance, or Customs Brokerage.
  • Hands-on experience reviewing, auditing, or filing U.S. Customs entries.
  • Experience working directly with customs brokers to resolve compliance issues and entry discrepancies.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • HTS Classification
  • Customs Valuation
  • Country of Origin Determination
  • Post-Entry Corrections
  • U.S. Customs regulations and import compliance requirements
  • Experience using ACE reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, auditing, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accountability for accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB).
  • Experience with SAP GTS or other trade compliance platforms.
  • Power BI experience.
  • Experience with USMCA and other Free Trade Agreements.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of Section 232, Section 301, and other U.S. trade programs.
