Job Description: Assistant Manager – Finance & Accounts

Location: Mumbai

Level: Assistant Manager

Reporting to: Financial Controller

Core Responsibilities

1. Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Finalization of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Ind AS and Companies Act.
  • Preparation of Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Account, and Cash Flow Statements.
  • Ensuring timely book closure, reconciliations, provisions, and accrual accounting.
  • Monitoring revenue recognition, expense control, and fixed asset accounting.

2. Audit & Internal Controls

  • Coordinating statutory, internal, tax, and forensic audits (as applicable).
  • Ensuring audit readiness and timely resolution of audit observations.
  • Strengthening internal control systems and compliance mechanisms.
  • Reviewing inventory, stock verification, and cost controls.

3. Taxation & Regulatory Compliance

  • Managing GST compliance including return filing and reconciliations.
  • Overseeing TDS, advance tax computation, and Income Tax return filings.
  • Ensuring compliance with Companies Act, Income Tax Act, GST Act, and applicable labour laws.
  • Liaising with statutory authorities as required.

4. MIS & Financial Analysis

  • Preparation of monthly MIS reports and variance analysis (Budget vs Actual).
  • Conducting cost analysis related to raw materials, wastage, labour, and production.
  • Developing financial dashboards and performance insights for management.
  • Identifying cost optimization and profitability improvement opportunities.

5. Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Supporting annual budgeting and financial forecasting processes.
  • Monitoring budget utilization and expenditure control.
  • Assisting in pricing strategy and cost planning initiatives.

6. Payroll & Labour Compliance

  • Overseeing payroll accounting and reconciliation.
  • Ensuring compliance with PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, and labour regulations.
  • Coordinating with HR for salary structuring and statutory compliance.

7. ERP & Systems Management

  • Working on ERP platforms (SAP/Oracle) and ensuring data integrity.
  • Driving process automation and improving reporting efficiency.
  • Utilizing advanced Excel for financial modeling and analysis.

8. Risk Management & Advisory

  • Identifying financial risks and recommending mitigation measures.
  • Supporting management with strategic financial inputs.
  • Monitoring working capital, cash flow, and contract financial evaluation.

Key Requirements & Skills:

  • Technical Knowledge: Strong foundation in Ind AS, GST, and Tax Audit.
  • ERP Proficiency: Hands-on experience or quick adaptability to ERP systems (like SAP or Oracle) and advanced MS Excel.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate factory floor data into financial insights.

Education:

  • Chartered Accountant (Qualified)
  • MBA in Finance
