SUPPLY CHAIN DIRECTOR

About the Company

Our client, a well-established company operating in the Turkish pharmaceutical industry, successfully managing both manufacturing and distribution operations and strengthening its organizational structure in line with its growth objectives, is seeking a Supply Chain Director.

Position Purpose

To establish and manage a sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective supply chain structure supporting the company’s manufacturing and distribution operations; to contribute to overall company performance through the integrated management of procurement, planning, inventory management, import operations, logistics, and warehousing activities.

Qualifications

  • Graduated from Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other related Engineering disciplines, as well as Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, or other quantitative and analytical fields from reputable universities.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly within manufacturing facilities and import/manufacturing-distribution operations, including at least 5 years in managerial positions.
  • Advanced knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), GSP (Good Storage Practices), pharmaceutical regulations, and ITS (Pharmaceutical Track & Trace System) processes.
  • Fluent in English, with the ability to conduct negotiations with global licensors.
  • Proven ability to manage SAP systems end-to-end and strong command of reporting processes.
  • Capable of managing vulnerabilities inherent in the supply environment of raw materials and distribution products; able to remain calm under pressure, solution-oriented, and highly cost-conscious during crises.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to establish and manage the capacity-inventory-cost balance through data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, capable of protecting and advancing the company’s commercial interests when dealing with global licensors and local suppliers.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to develop contingency plans for supply risks such as raw material shortages, currency fluctuations, and similar challenges.
  • Uncompromising commitment to the high ethical and compliance standards required in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Location: Ataşehir, Istanbul.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maximize company profitability by conducting Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analyses for the procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, laboratory consumables, and technical services.
  • Expand the domestic and international supplier portfolio and coordinate supplier audits in collaboration with the Quality Assurance department.
  • Manage the department’s budget in line with the company’s OPEX (Operating Expenses) targets and present monthly variance reports to Finance and Executive Management.
  • Act as a bridge between domestic and international Sales & Marketing and Production Planning functions to eliminate idle inventory during low-capacity periods and prevent stock-out risks during high-demand periods.
  • Manage customs clearance, cold chain logistics, and warehousing processes for imported products in accordance with international standards.
  • Coordinate raw material procurement required by manufacturing units based on Just-in-Time (JIT) principles, ensuring uninterrupted production flow and avoiding unnecessary overtime requirements.
  • Develop action plans to minimize the impact of supply chain-related factors on production costs and labor expenses, including overtime costs.
  • Lead projects aimed at increasing inventory turnover and warehouse efficiency within pharmaceutical warehouse and logistics operations.
