THE ROLE
The Designer, Trims & Hardware plays a critical role in translating creative concepts into distinctive trims and hardware that elevate Thom Browne’s product categories while maintaining the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. Reporting to the Design Director, Raw Materials, this role supports the design and development of seasonal trims and hardware across runway, ready-to-wear, accessories, footwear, and special projects, partnering closely with Design, Product Development, Production, and external vendors from concept through final approval.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop seasonal trims and hardware from concept through final sample approval across runway and ready-to-wear, including specific accessories, footwear, and special projects
- Research and identify new materials, finishes, manufacturing techniques, and industry innovations to support seasonal design direction
- Translate creative concepts into detailed sketches, renderings, technical drawings, and development packages
- Create presentation materials, design boards, and seasonal development tools to support internal reviews and approvals
- Support the evolution of trims and hardware that reinforce Thom Browne's distinctive design language and elevated craftsmanship standards
- Partner with domestic and international suppliers to develop custom trims and hardware that meet design, quality, functionality, and cost objectives
- Maintain ongoing communication with vendors regarding development timelines, revisions, prototyping, and sample approvals
- Collaborate closely with Design, Product Development, Production, and Runway teams throughout the development process
- Support the development of trims and hardware for seasonal runway collections, ensuring creative concepts are executed while maintaining technical feasibility and quality standards
- Track development progress and proactively communicate updates, risks, and solutions to key stakeholders
- Create and maintain detailed technical packages, specifications, BOMs, and development documentation
- Review prototypes and samples, providing clear feedback to vendors and internal partners to ensure accuracy and quality
- Refine designs through multiple development stages while balancing aesthetics, functionality, manufacturability, and cost considerations
- Utilize Adobe Creative Suite and other digital design tools to communicate concepts and support development
- Explore and leverage emerging technologies, including 3D modeling and AI-assisted design tools, to improve design visualization and workflow efficiency
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, Accessories Design, or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in trims, hardware, accessories, product design, or a related development function
- Strong understanding of materials, finishes, manufacturing processes, and product development workflows
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
- Proficiency in 3D modeling and rendering tools such as Rhino, Fusion 360, or similar platforms
- Ability to rapidly translate concepts into detailed renderings, 3D models, and technical visualizations
- Experience creating technical drawings, specifications, BOMs, and development documentation
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and external vendors

WHAT WE OFFER YOU
- Competitive compensation. Salary Range is $70,000 - $85,000 + target bonus. Please note that compensation will be offered based on relevant skills and experience
