Position Overview
Stanford Solutions Science Lab is seeking motivated and community-oriented bilingual (Spanish/English) Group Educators / Coordinators to lead family-based group sessions for Stanford family healthy weight study for children with obesity (ages 10-15) and their parents in the Merced area. This position will also support the coordination of a clinical research study and assist with participant recruitment, screening, enrollment, and data collection.
Program Details
- Expected duration: at least 9 months, with the possibility of renewal.
- Sessions held during weekday evenings
- Availability during weekends (as needed)
- Located in the Merced area
- Part-time hourly position (8-18 hours per week)

Responsibilities
- Lead weekly group health behavior change sessions for children and parents during evening hours
- Support family engagement and participation throughout the program
- Participate in participant recruitment, screening, enrollment and data collection, including surveys and physical measures (e.g., height and weight measurements)
- Coordinate session setup, attendance tracking, reminders, follow-up communication, make-up scheduling, and other program logistics
- Communicate with participating families in both English and Spanish
- Help create a welcoming, supportive, and culturally-sensitive environment
- Collaborate with other members of the project team regarding scheduling and participant needs
- Assist with reminders, follow-up communication, and program logistics as needed
Qualifications
Required:
- Fluent in both Spanish and English, including strong verbal communication and the ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing with families and program staff
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience working directly with children, adolescents, or families
- Comfortable leading small groups of children, adolescents and parents/guardians
- Reliable, organized, and professional
- Available during weekday evenings and weekends as needed
- Able to travel to program and other community locations in the Merced area
- Assist with community outreach events, presentations, tabling, and relationship-building with local organizations
- Comfortable using computers, phones, email, text messaging, and online platforms for participant communication, data entry, and program coordination
- Comfortable interpreting graphical displays of data, including reviewing basic participant information, tracking progress, and interpreting simple graphs or data summaries
Preferred:
- Experience facilitating groups or community programs
- Familiarity with the local community and culturally responsive engagement
Compensation
$25 per hour.
