Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Digital Operations Engineer with strong Data Engineering and DevOps exposure to support enterprise digital operations and cloud-based data platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience in building scalable data pipelines, managing cloud environments, automating deployments, and ensuring operational reliability across data and application ecosystems. This role requires hands-on expertise in data engineering technologies, operational support, CI/CD processes, and cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering & Platform Support
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for enterprise data platforms.
• Build and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and integration workflows.
• Work with structured and unstructured data across cloud and enterprise systems.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data models.
• Support enterprise analytics and reporting initiatives by ensuring reliable data availability.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline failures, performance bottlenecks, and operational issues.
Digital Operations & Monitoring
• Support day-to-day operations of digital platforms and data ecosystems.
• Ensure platform stability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and incident management processes.
• Perform root cause analysis and issue resolution for operational incidents.
• Collaborate with support, infrastructure, and engineering teams to maintain service availability.
DevOps & Automation
• Support CI/CD pipeline implementation and deployment automation.
• Work with DevOps tools for code integration, release management, and environment deployments.
• Automate operational and deployment processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Assist in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and configuration management initiatives.
• Support version control and branching strategies using Git-based repositories.
Cloud & Data Platform Management
• Work with cloud-based data platforms and services, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Support Azure-based data engineering solutions including Databricks, Data Factory, and SQL services.
• Assist in cloud resource optimization, scalability, and security best practices.
• Collaborate with architecture teams on platform improvements and modernization initiatives.
Collaboration & Delivery
• Work closely with engineering, analytics, business, and operations teams.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum delivery processes and operational reviews.
• Document technical processes, deployment procedures, and operational runbooks.
• Support continuous improvement and automation initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
• Strong understanding of Data Engineering concepts and ETL/ELT frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and database technologies.
• Exposure to Azure Data Engineering services such as:
o Azure Databricks
o Azure Data Factory
o Azure SQL / Synapse
• Knowledge of Python or PySpark for data processing and automation.
• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools such as:
o Azure DevOps
o Jenkins
o GitHub Actions
o Git
• Understanding of cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and operational support processes.
• Basic understanding of APIs, scripting, and automation.
Preferred Skills
• Exposure to containerization technologies like Docker/Kubernetes.
• Experience with Data Quality validation and monitoring frameworks.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or ARM templates.
• Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies.
• Understanding of cloud security and governance practices.
Pay:
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $100,000 - $120,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus for the current performance period.
