Position Summary

The Engineering technician supports the local engineering team by executing mechanical and electrical tasks in development projects. The self-motivated and results driven professional also supports the service team as a second-level escalation point of contact.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and execute electrical and mechanical setup and installation for engineering R&D projects
  • Second level software support for Weber service department
  • Mechanical and electrical integration of 3rd party equipment into Weber line solutions
  • Support Weber Inc specific internal research and development projects
  • Run and document R&D tests
  • Drive quick problem solution by facilitating communication with Engineering department
  • Lead US specific support for service needs regarding remote connections and initial setup of digital solutions
  • Field installation and support for development projects as needed
  • Duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent technical skills and ability to understand operation of complex production systems.
  • Proficient knowledge of electric controls is mandatory.
  • Systematical problem-solving ability in combination with proper time management are essential.
  • Ability to understand pneumatic and electrical controls and machine design is essential.
  • Experience in commissioning full lines and individual machines is preferred
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects/priorities.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with the use of Salesforce and SAP would be a benefit
  • Sensitivity to problems; ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • Employee must be personable with excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a team environment will be essential.
  • German as a second language would be a benefit

Education and Experience

  • Associate degree or equivalent technical school diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering or similar discipline; or two years field service, packaging, maintenance or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Requirements

  • Must have a valid and unrestricted driver's license. Real ID-compliant driver’s license or other TSA approved alternative form of identification required for travel.
  • Valid passport or can obtain one.
  • Must have the ability to frequently travel within North America and Germany.
