Operations Associate

Luanda

Description

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to own procurement, supply chain, and logistics across our Angolan operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows Angola's customs landscape inside-out — including the ports of Luanda and Cabinda — and can keep our import flows running smoothly, compliantly, and cost-efficiently.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end procurement of raw materials (wheat, edible oil, rice, sugar, maize) and packaging from international and local suppliers, managed through SAP Business One.

• Manage all import clearance processes through the Ports of Luanda and Cabinda, working directly with licensed despachantes and the Angolan Customs Authority (Alfândegas de Angola) via ASYCUDA++.

• Ensure full compliance with Angolan import regulations, including MINCO import licences, INAMA food safety requirements, and local sourcing mandates under Executive Decree No. 130/26.

• Coordinate with the AGT (Administração Geral Tributária) on duty valuations and manage IVA provisioning on landed costs in close collaboration with the Finance team.

• Oversee inland logistics from port to factory across Luanda and Benguela, including truck contracting and warehouse inventory control.

• Lead and develop a multi-site operations team and serve as the primary interface with port authorities, freight forwarders, and government inspectors.

• Process and monitor daily customer orders from placement to successful delivery.

• Track inventory levels and flag shortages before they affect fulfillment timelines.

• Coordinate directly with shipping vendors to schedule pickups and resolve transit delays.

• Audit incoming shipments for accuracy, damage, and compliance with purchase orders.

• Update internal databases immediately to maintain accurate real-time inventory metrics.

• Handle customer service escalations regarding missing, damaged, or delayed shipments.

• Assist with routine data entry to support weekly operational cost reporting.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications and Skills:

• Excellent time management to handle fast-paced daily fulfillment deadlines.

• Strong communication skills for clear daily contact with delivery drivers and vendors.

• Sharp analytical thinking to spot patterns in shipping delays or inventory discrepancies.

• Maintain flexibility to perform any other operational tasks assigned from time to time by management to support changing business needs.

Education & Experience Requirements

• 5+ years in operations, procurement, or supply chain within food manufacturing or FMCG in Angola.

• Proven, hands-on experience clearing cargo through the Port of Luanda and Port of Cabinda — with established relationships among local clearance agencies.

• Strong working knowledge of Angolan customs law, ASYCUDA++, and import documentation requirements.

• Solid understanding of Angolan tax obligations for importers: IVA, customs duties, and AGT compliance.

• Proficiency in SAP Business One or a comparable ERP.

• Full professional proficiency in Portuguese is required; English proficiency is highly beneficial for communication with international suppliers and the corporate team.

• Professional certification in supply chain or logistics (CIPS, CILT, or APICS).

• Experience with staple food commodity categories and Angola's local content compliance frameworks.

• Professional working proficiency in English is required; proficiency in Portuguese is a plus
