Description

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To provide strategic leadership and oversight for the development and execution of all ongoing and upcoming projects within Essar Ports. The role is responsible for ensuring projects are delivered in alignment with business objectives, within defined timelines, budgets, and regulatory frameworks, while driving excellence across engineering, EPC, and governance functions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. PROJECT DEVELOPMENT & EXECUTION

  • Lead the development of all ongoing and pipeline projects across Essar Ports
  • Ensure execution readiness, project planning, and alignment with organizational growth strategy
  • Drive timely delivery of projects within approved scope, cost, and quality parameters

2. ENGINEERING & EPC MANAGEMENT

  • Oversee engineering design, technical evaluations, and execution strategies
  • Provide leadership on EPC contracting, contractor management, and cost optimization
  • Ensure adherence to technical standards, specifications, and project schedules

3. PROJECT MONITORING & GOVERNANCE

  • Establish and implement robust project monitoring systems, MIS, and dashboards
  • Track project progress, identify risks, and drive corrective actions
  • Define governance frameworks, reporting cadence, and performance metrics

4. PROJECT FUNDING SUPPORT

  • Support project funding initiatives through coordination with finance teams and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to project feasibility, financial modelling inputs, and lender requirements

5. REPORTING & MIS

  • Ensure preparation and submission of periodic project reports to senior management
  • Maintain high standards of reporting accuracy, transparency, and timeliness

6. APPROVALS, COMPLIANCE & REGULATORY

  • Drive all project-related statutory approvals, clearances, and licenses
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, environmental, and corporate governance norms

7. STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

  • Act as a key interface between CEO, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams
  • Lead decision-making on critical technical, commercial, and regulatory matters
  • Ensure alignment across engineering, procurement, finance, legal, and operations teams

8. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  • Build and lead a high-performing project organization across all project locations
  • Drive manpower planning, organization structuring, and capability building initiatives
  • Lead recruitment and onboarding of key project talent in line with business expansion plans
  • Mentor and develop internal talent, fostering a performance-driven and collaborative culture

9. HEALTH, SAFETY, ENVIRONMENT & FIRE (HSEF)

  • Ensure strict adherence to all HSEF policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor safety performance, conduct reviews, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Promote awareness and training programs to minimize risks and ensure zero harm objectives

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil / Mechanical)

EXPERIENCE

  • 25+ years of experience in infrastructure / port / large-scale industrial project execution
  • Extensive experience in engineering, EPC, and project delivery roles
  • Added advantage: Experience in port sector, specifically dry bulk and liquid terminal projects
