About the Company
We are recruiting on behalf of a company with a strong and established footprint across the African continent. Active in the agro-industrial sector, the organization plays a pivotal role in supporting local agricultural and industrial value chains in Sub-Saharian Africa.
The Role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for the full operational performance of the company's activities in Senegal, Mali, Togo, Benin and Burkina Faso. This is a senior leadership role with direct oversight of 10 reports and indirect responsibility for a team of 30.
The successful candidate will drive operational strategy, lead cross-functional teams, and ensure excellence in logistics, production, warehousing, distribution, maintenance, and QHSE compliance across a demanding and dynamic multi-country environment.
Key Responsibilities
Import Execution & Logistics
- Supervise product unloading, customs operations, and transfers from port of arrival to in-country warehouses
- Optimize logistics flows, lead times, and costs in close coordination with supply chain stakeholders
Operations, Warehousing & Distribution
- Coordinate production planning, scheduling, and execution to quality and timeline standards
- Manage storage, customer distribution, and inter-country road transits
- Ensure accurate, timely ERP administration (Microsoft D365) across all operational transactions
Maintenance & Engineering
- Oversee equipment and infrastructure maintenance; ensure facility availability and reliability
Performance & Cost Optimization
- Develop and monitor OPEX and CAPEX budgets; analyze KPIs and drive corrective actions
- Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives across the Sahel operations
Project Management
- Define and execute operational development projects, ensuring adherence to budgets, timelines, and objectives
Candidate Profile
Education
- Master's degree (Bac+5) in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related technical discipline
Experience
- 8–10 years of experience in operations management within a multinational environment
- Proven track record in multi-site or international operations leadership
- Background in agro-industry or related industrial sectors is a strong asset
Technical Skills
- Strong command of international logistics, import/export operations, and customs processes
- Proficiency in QHSE standards applicable to industrial environments
- ERP fluency required — Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred
- Experience deploying continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma or equivalent)
- Solid skills in cost management, KPI monitoring, and performance analysis
Leadership & Interpersonal Skills
- Strategic mindset with strong operational execution capabilities
- Proven leadership of diverse, multi-site teams in complex environments
- Rigorous, results-oriented, with excellent analytical and communication skills
- Comfortable working under pressure and managing competing priorities
Languages
- French and English required — part of the recruitment process will be conducted in English
