What to expect

As the Engineering Director, you’ll play a critical role in shaping and delivering the Post Office’s technology platforms, ensuring they are secure, resilient and aligned to business and customer outcomes. You will lead a team of engineers within a product-led environment, you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end delivery, operation and evolution of key platforms across our technology estate.

Working closely with Product, Architecture and wider Technology teams, you’ll drive a focus on value, outcomes and customer impact—balancing the delivery of complex change with the stability of live services.

This is a highly visible leadership role where you will influence technology strategy, provide technical oversight and build strong relationships across the organisation, a really unique opportunity to make a tangible impact, drive innovation, and help shape the future of Post Office technology.

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you’ll be an experienced engineering leader with a strong track record of delivering complex, business-critical platforms.

You will also:

  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams at scale (c.15–25 engineers)
  • Operate effectively within product-led or product-aligned delivery models
  • Demonstrate strong technical leadership, with the ability to challenge and guide engineering decisions
  • Drive operational resilience, service performance and continuous improvement
  • Influence and engage senior stakeholders across complex organisations
  • Promote modern engineering practices including DevOps, CI/CD and cloud-based solutions
