The General Manager will drive the operational, financial, and strategic growth of the organisation. This role entails leading multi-disciplinary teams across Architecture, Civil, and MEP disciplines to ensure the flawless execution of high-profile commercial, residential, and retail towers. The GM acts as the bridge between top-tier local clients, executive board members, and technical project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Formulate and implement long-term business strategies to maintain the firm’s competitive edge as a Grade-A consultancy.
- Expand the company portfolio by identifying new business development opportunities in Qatar’s public and private construction sectors.
- Represent the company in meetings with government authorities, royal family offices, and prominent local developers.
Operational & Technical Oversight
- Direct day-to-day operations across the design registry, Architect of Record (AoR) processes, and site construction supervision units.
- Provide executive oversight of all architectural, structural, civil, MEP, and infrastructure design activities from concept through to project handover.
- Lead multidisciplinary design coordination and integration across Architecture, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, Landscape, and Infrastructure disciplines to ensure technically sound, efficient, sustainable, and buildable project solutions.
- Review and approve major technical submissions, design reports, value engineering studies, technical due diligence reports, constructability reviews, and key project deliverables prior to client submission.
- Promote innovation, value engineering initiatives, and continuous improvement to optimize project performance, cost efficiency, and technical excellence.
- Standardize internal workflows by incorporating modern tech advances like BIM, Revit, Navisworks, and CAD automation tools.
- Enforce rigorous QA/QC, HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment), design risk assessments, and technical governance procedures across all active job sites.
- Lead technical decision-making for complex projects while ensuring strict compliance with local MME building codes, Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), Civil Defense, Ashghal, and Kahramaa standards.
- Oversee stakeholder coordination and approval processes with government authorities, utility providers, developers, and key project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Financial Management
- Manage the firm's total Profit and Loss (P&L) statements, annual operating budgets, and capital expenditures.
- Establish strict project controls to secure on-time delivery while protecting target profit margins and cash flow.
- Oversee contractual agreements, change orders, and fee structures to eliminate project delivery risks.
People & Culture Leadership
- Build a supportive workplace culture that fosters collaboration among diverse, multi-national engineering professionals.
- Guide the HR unit through strategic hiring, talent assessments, and ongoing technical training programs.
- Resolve high-level design bottlenecks or operational resource disputes swiftly and diplomatically.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is mandatory. MBA or advanced Management qualification is highly preferred.
- Professional Registration: Must be eligible for or currently hold MMUP/MME Grade-A Engineer registration in Qatar.
- Experience: Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience within a leading architectural and engineering consultancy or major contracting organization, including at least 5 years in a senior executive leadership or General Manager role.
- Technical Background: Strong technical background in architectural and engineering consultancy services, including design management, construction supervision, project delivery, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Team Leadership: Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary teams comprising Architecture, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, Landscape, and Infrastructure disciplines.
- Project Portfolio: Proven track record delivering large-scale mixed-use developments, high-rise towers (G+50 and above), commercial developments, hospitality projects, or luxury residential projects from concept design through project handover.
- Local Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of Qatar authority approval procedures and stakeholder coordination requirements involving MME, Civil Defense, Kahramaa, Ashghal, utility providers, and other regulatory bodies.
- Technical Expertise: Proven experience in value engineering, technical due diligence, design reviews, constructability assessments, and resolution of complex engineering and construction challenges.
- Digital Engineering: Proficiency in BIM platforms, Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, project management systems, and digital collaboration tools.
- Languages: Professional fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills will be considered a strong advantage.
