Role: Financial Controller / Head of Finance

About the Role
We’re hiring a Financial Controller to build and lead the finance function from the ground up in a fast-growing, venture-backed deep-tech startup. This is a high-impact role where you will work closely with the founders on financial strategy, capital planning, and scaling operations.
The role goes beyond compliance — it’s about owning financial decision-making across manufacturing, fundraising, and long-term growth. Over time, this role has the potential to evolve into a CFO position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and cash flow management, including runway and scenario analysis
- Build and manage cost structures for hardware/manufacturing (BOM, inventory, WIP, working capital)
- Drive investor reporting, MIS dashboards, and support fundraising and due diligence
- Develop unit economics across product sales and service-based models (e.g., RaaS)
- Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, FEMA, RBI, and manage audits and governance
- Set up finance processes, controls, and implement ERP/accounting systems
Requirements
- CA preferred; MBA Finance/CFA is a plus
- 4+ years of experience in finance, with some exposure to startups
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and working capital (preferably in manufacturing/hardware)
- Experience in audits, due diligence, and investor reporting
- Familiarity with Indian financial regulations and compliance
Preferred Background
- Experience in deep-tech, manufacturing, EV, robotics, or similar sectors
- Exposure to ESOP structuring and cap table management
- Understanding of import/export and hardware supply chains
