Summary/Objective

The Manufacturing Engineer will support and optimize production processes within SIMONA Boltaron’s high-performance plastics manufacturing environment. This position will have a primary focus on the calender production line and press equipment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, project management experience, and a commitment to lean manufacturing principles.

  • Lead efforts to improve manufacturing processes including quality, safety, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical support for calender line and press operations, including technical troubleshooting and performance optimization.
  • Manage and execute manufacturing and industrial projects, including capital improvements, and equipment upgrades.
  • Drive Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.
  • Partner cross-functionally with production, maintenance, and quality teams to improve safety, reliability, and output; as well as investigating production and quality issues.
  • Support and maintain PLC-controlled systems, including basic troubleshooting and process optimization.
  • Coordinate production line trials and reporting on new compounds or materials.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Train operators and technicians on new or improved processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering is preferred, or similar technical field.
  • 5–10 years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in plastics or related industry.
  • Experience with industrial manufacturing systems.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Proven project management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies, including Six Sigma or Lean certification.
  • Experience with ERP/MES systems and manufacturing data analysis tools/CPK a plus.

Work Environment

This job operates primarily based in a manufacturing facility with exposure to industrial equipment and production lines, as well as working in a professional office environment.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and move as well as talk and hear throughout a manufacturing facility.
  • May require bending, reaching, climbing stairs or ladders, and working near operating machinery.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms to operate equipment, tools, and computer systems.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move materials and equipment up to approximately 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work safely in an industrial environment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, salary position working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. May require occasional off-shift support or extended hours based on business needs.

Travel

Limited travel may be required to support equipment vendors, training, or multi-site initiatives with other SIMONA facilities.
