Senior Chemist – Personal Care Contract Manufacturing

About the Role
I’m currently working with a personal care contract manufacturer to hire a Senior Chemist to join their growing R&D team. This role is critical to the development, scale-up, and commercialization of high-quality cosmetic and personal care products for a diverse customer base.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead formulation development of personal care products (e.g., skincare, haircare, body care, OTC cosmetics as applicable) from concept through commercialization
- Design and execute formulation experiments, stability studies, and performance testing
- Troubleshoot formulation, scale-up, and manufacturing challenges in collaboration with Operations and Quality teams
- Support technology transfer from lab to pilot and full-scale manufacturing
- Ensure formulations comply with applicable regulatory and safety requirements (FDA, EU, IFRA, etc.)
- Partner with Sales and Marketing to support customer projects, technical presentations, and line extensions
- Mentor junior chemists and provide technical leadership within the R&D team
- Maintain thorough documentation, including batch records, specifications, and development reports
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, or related scientific field (Master’s preferred)
- 7+ years of formulation experience in personal care, cosmetics, or related consumer products
- Strong hands-on experience with emulsions, surfactant systems, and functional ingredients
- Proven experience supporting scale-up and contract manufacturing environments
