Description

Individuals with an interest in advancing the specialty of plastic surgery, including aesthetic and reconstructive care, are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in philanthropy, fundraising, strategic growth, innovation, or organizational leadership. Final candidates will be required to disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest in accordance with PSF governance policies. Additionally, individuals with expertise in the following areas are preferred:

  • Artificial intelligence and its application in healthcare or business
  • Data science, analytics, outcomes research, and performance measurement
  • Marketing, brand strategy, digital communications, storytelling, and social media
  • Philanthropy, major gifts, donor development, and nonprofit fundraising strategy
  • Clinical research methodology, evidence generation, and translational science
  • Clinical education and workforce advancement
  • Nonprofit governance, fiduciary oversight, strategic planning or board leadership
  • International healthcare capacity development

The Foundation Board may appoint up to three (3) Public Members to represent the general public, corporations, foundations or other organizations devoted to fostering research, education and the improvement of public health who shall possess demonstrated expertise in foundation development to serve a maximum of four (4) one (1) year terms.

Committee terms are one-year in length and run from the conclusion of one Annual Business Meeting (ABM) to the conclusion of the next, unless otherwise provided for in the Bylaws or committee-specific governing document.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and maintain relationships with the general public, corporations, foundations or other organizations to steward donations for The PSF.
  • Work with The PSF Fundraising Subcommittee and annually revise The PSF Fundraising appeals and campaigns.
  • Work with The PSF Fundraising Subcommittee to complete fundraising goals and objectives.
  • Attends all Board and committee meetings and functions.
  • Is informed about the organization’s mission, services, policies, and programs.
  • Reviews agenda and supporting materials prior to Board and committee meetings.
  • Serves on additional committees and offers to take on special assignments.
  • Keeps up to date on developments impacting plastic surgery.

GOVERNANCE ACTIVITIES

1. Serves as a member of the ASPS and PSF Board of Directors and a member of the Development Committee.

a. Attend in-person quarterly Board meetings.

b. Attend 1-hour monthly virtual Board calls as needed, depending on meeting objectives.

c. Attend PSTM in-person and participate in PSF-related events.

  • PSTM26 will be held October 15-18, 2026 in Houston TX
  • PSTM27 will be held September 16-19, 2027 in Baltimore, MD
  • PSTM28 will be held October 12-15, 2028 in Los Angeles, CA

2. Follows conflict of interest and confidentiality policies.

3. Assists the Board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Maintains communications with the ASPS Offices by monitoring voice mail messages at least once every 24 hours.

2. Provides review and sign-off of appropriate materials within 24 hours.

LEADERSHIP CONTRIBUTIONS

The PSF requires a $5,000 annual leadership donation to The PSF.
