About the Role:

As the HR Operations Lead at Mal, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our people processes and strategies within an innovative neo bank environment. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include overseeing HR operations, driving engagement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with Sharia principles while fostering a culture of inclusivity and growth. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and continually enhance daily HR operations to ensure process excellence and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR strategies that closely align with Mal's mission, business objectives, and Sharia principles.
  • Lead and execute employee engagement and cultural initiatives to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace.
  • Partner with leadership to define workforce planning, talent acquisition, and retention strategies.
  • Ensure all HR policies, processes, and documentation adhere to labor laws and Sharia guidelines.
  • Analyze HR data and metrics to inform strategic decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Champion the use of Notion and other digital tools to optimize HR processes and knowledge management.

Technical Skills/Knowledge/Professional Qualifications

Essential:

  • Proven track record of building and leading HR functions, ideally in a startup or fast-growth financial services environment.
  • Deep knowledge of employment regulations and HR compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing, implementing, and refining HR strategies and people processes.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Advanced proficiency with HRIS systems, HR data analytics, and digital collaboration platforms (including Notion).
  • Strong understanding of Sharia principles related to HR practices and workplace ethics.
  • Experience leading complex HR projects and change management initiatives.

Desirable:

  • Professional HR certification (SHRM, CIPD, or equivalent).Experience in the fintech, digital banking, or Islamic finance sectors.
  • Familiarity with talent management and performance management software solutions.
  • Multilingual abilities to support a diverse, international workforce.
  • Established network within the HR community or Islamic finance industry.
