About SCALE Initiative

Senior Care Advancement through Learning and Evidence (SCALE) is the first of its kind research initiative at MIHM, ISB. Supported by Max India Foundation and onboarding Antara Senior Living as its founding industry partner, the initiative aims to generate new knowledge on India's rapidly growing elderly population. The initiative will explore across areas such as healthcare delivery models for elderly, financing and insurance for elderly, digital inclusion of elderly, and the elderly as consumers and producers, through rigorous academic research, industry and policy engagements. The Initiative aims to generate research insights for scalable, sustainable, and equitable elderly care frameworks relevant to India's unique socio-cultural and economic context. The initiative is an important pillar within MIHM, and the appointee will ensure that all research, partnerships, and outreach efforts reinforce MIHM’s broader mission and long-term vision.

Job Purpose

To provide strategic, research, and administrative leadership to start Senior Care Advancement through Learning and Evidence (SCALE) Initiative at MIHM. The appointee will advance the nitiative’s mission by strengthening research, partnerships, and outreach in the field of elderly care, and by shaping evidence-informed solutions for India’s ageing population.

Job Outline

The appointee will work closely with the Executive Director of MIHM to guide the initiative’s research agenda, stakeholder engagement, and long-term strategy. This includes conducting high-quality research with ISB faculty, building strong partnerships with industry and government, mentoring research teams, and ensuring that insights translate into practical models, policy inputs, and sector-wide impact.

The role requires balancing academic rigor with the needs of a rapidly evolving elderly care ecosystem. In addition, the appointee should be able to act as an evangelist for the initiative, energise stakeholders, build partnerships, and champion the work across the ecosystem.

The role functions under the leadership of the Executive Director, MIHM, and is closely tied to the institute’s strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Research Leadership

  • Lead a comprehensive multi-year research programme exploring healthcare, financing, digital inclusion, economic empowerment, and social wellbeing of the elderly in India.
  • Ensure research outputs simultaneously meet standards of academic rigor and translate into practical, industry-relevant insights that inform real-world decision-making.
  • Work closely with ISB faculty to develop rigorous research proposals, strengthen methodological frameworks, and ensure timely and high-quality execution.
  • Provide technical expertise in study design, research tools, data analysis, literature review, and manuscript development.
  • Ensure high-quality research outputs including research papers, industry reports, opinion pieces, webinars, and digital content.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing research team.
  • Oversee budgets and ensure responsible resource allocation.

2. Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build and deepen partnerships with healthcare providers, insurers, technology organizations, government bodies, and civil society groups to strengthen research relevance and sector alignment.
  • Engage with funding agencies, philanthropic organizations, industry associations, and CSR partners to broaden the initiative’s reach.
  • Organize roundtables, consultations, and stakeholder discussions to facilitate knowledge exchange and sector-wide collaboration.
  • Identify intersections between ISB faculty research interests and initiative themes to strengthen academic engagement.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation

· Design and oversee a robust M&E framework to track research quality, project performance, and sector impact across the initiative

· Ensure methodological rigor and data integrity by validating study designs, tools, and reporting systems used by research teams and partners

· Translate evidence into actionable insights through periodic reviews, and reports that inform strategic decisions and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

Education: Ph.D. in Management, Healthcare, Public Health, Social Sciences, or related fields.

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant research and industry experience.
  • Proven track record of leading interdisciplinary research.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare systems, ageing demographics, and social policy in India.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure research funding.
  • Strong networks across academic, industry, and policy circles.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
