Position Summary

The Account Manager establishes, maintains, and expands relationships with new and existing customers. The Account Manager represents the entire range of Traffix products and services to customers while managing the day-to-day operations of assigned accounts. Account Managers carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: business development, full cycle order processing; customer service; and carrier recruitment/management.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting sales with meeting or exceeding established sales quotas
  • Developing professional relationships with assigned TRAFFIX customers
  • Providing status updates to customers and/or sales when requested
  • Working with Customer Service to track shipment pickup, in-transit updates, and deliveries
  • Managing in transit delays to have minimal impact on the customer
  • Working with the TRAFFIX Bond Team when TRAFFIX Continuous Bond is in use
  • Proactively identifying potential problems and/or issues and providing a solution whenever possible
  • Managing customer complaints and providing a resolution
  • All related filing and record keeping

Primary Objectives:

  • Maximize level of business from existing customers
  • Work with operations to maximize revenue on each load
  • Build strong sustainable relationships with clients, prospects, and carriers
  • Exemplify Traffix values and strategic goals

Note: Account Managers and Senior Account Managers perform the same functions. The Senior Account Manager title is awarded to those who consistently perform above expectations for an extended period.

Position Details:

  • Manage, service, and grow customer relationships
  • Providing quotes on adhoc and contract business
  • Collects all required paperwork (e.g. POD’s) from potential customers and follows up accordingly
  • Full cycle order processing, ensuring that all loads are accurately received and entered in the TMS system
  • Ensures all required paperwork is accurately completed, electronically filed, and communicated to all necessary parties
  • Responsible for carrier communications, such as providing detailed pickup/delivery information; as well as, managing any in-transit delays such as mechanical failure, accident, etc.
  • Tracks shipments from pickup through delivery, ensuring accurate up-to-date information is always available and communicated appropriately to customers and team members
  • Ensures all customer-specific pickup and delivery KPIs are met
  • Communicates any service delays or failures to the customer prior to the occurrence (or as soon as possible)
  • Assists drivers on an ongoing basis to find locations, get directions or contact third parties to order to ensure on-time deliveries
  • Perform any other reasonable duties assigned or directed by management as necessary to ensure the continued success of Traffix and the Logistics Department.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as an Account Manager in a 3PL/4PL
  • Strong experience with multi-modal/ freight forwarding and a focus on quick response times
  • Background with the ability to build strong professional relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, carriers, drivers, and customers
  • Strong knowledge of North American trucking regulations and geography
  • Assessment techniques such as: examining, questioning, evaluating, and reporting
  • Be able to effectively analyse potential problems/issues and proactively address them to minimize impact to the customer using creative and resourceful problem-solving
  • Effective planning and organization with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • A team player who can also work with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to work flexible hours

Education & Experience

  • An existing network of industry relationships is required
  • Previous related sales experience preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Experience working with TMW is considered an asset
  • Capable of working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment where quick thinking and proactive problem-solving are required daily
